March of Microanalysis Day 8

Microfiction Entry Day 8:

Timmy slipped down a black hole, falling forever.

So would Timmy fall forever? Or would he merely hover at the event horizon, stuck forever as his dimensionality was crushed by gravity into a single point? How the hell would I know? Do I look like a scientist? Answer: no. But I thought the idea was pretty funny. And I would say that is is really the first “story story” of the month. There’s a bona fide character (Little Timmy). He does something (stupid). There is a conclusion (an awful, painful conclusion, but still). It’s a story with falling action, if you will. Anyway, story!

Now a word about word choice. Early drafts (yeah, more than one. I’m into my craft, I am.) used “singularity” rather than “black hole”. That would have given me another precious word. But singularity can mean a few different things (I’m looking at you, SkyNet). I didn’t want it to sound like Timmy slipped on a super computer, which would make no damn sense, so I had to go with "black hole" to make it clear. Not that slipping down a black hole makes sense either, but you see where I’m going...down a black hole with this analysis. I’ll stop now.

Through March, I'm posting a breakdown/analysis of the microfiction I posted on the corresponding day in February (the date determining the length of the story). This is probably only interesting to you if you care about the mechanics of writing, or if you know me personally.
